My day with Project Color Corps was spent painting planter boxes by hand and using roller paints to color the concrete playground. I worked with my friends and fellow volunteers to literally color the school. What used to be a blank asphalt transformed into a playground full of geometric lines and saturated colors. I’ve never painted on such a large scale before, so it was an entirely new experience. I want to take this idea of color as power into my IB Studio Art classroom to share with my classmates.

After reflecting on this experience, I realize how powerful color can be. Color can invoke emotions of hope, optimism, and strength and has the ability to improve the quality of life. As an artist, I truly believe in this cause and hope to recreate it at Berkeley High. Furthermore, this simple yet incredibly transformative technique has the potential to be applied worldwide for the betterment of all human beings.
