PARA LOS NIÑOS CHARTER SCHOOL

IIDA Southern California — Los Angeles, CA

Big Picture

Para Los Niños is a charter school in the greater downtown Los Angeles area committed to closing the achievement gap for children living in poverty. The PLN - Gratts Primary Center serves students embarking on their first steps of their educational journey, from kindergarten through first grade.

The school is committed to providing children and their families with the support and tools necessary to ensure academic success for their students. Their instructional program and integrated support services allows the students to become self-motivated, competent, and life-long learners.

Project Color Corps partnered with IIDA Southern California Para Los Niños to transform the outside walls to reflect the passion and energy within the school.

A Conversation About Color

Project Color Corps taught the students about the fundamentals of color, its connection to emotion, and its ability to inspire. The students were asked their favorite colors and how they wanted to feel when they came to school through words and drawings.

Wolcott Architecture Interiors designed the mural and two color palettes were created based on these color conversations.

The school community voted and the HOPEFUL LOVE design won.
